On a visit to the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, the Keeper of the Tomb spoke to our group briefly but powerfully. “You’ve come a long way to see the tomb where Jesus lay,” he said, “but all I can tell you is what the angel said two thousand years ago: why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, for he is risen.” He is risen! Think about it. We won’t find Jesus among tombs and cemeteries because he is alive! Seeing the place where his body lay was very meaningful and even more so because it is an empty tomb. Jesus arose from the dead and was seen by many witnesses. We have their testimony in the Bible. We need not fear that the gates of hell might prevail against the Church, the body of Christ, because Jesus conquered both death and hell by his crucifixion and resurrection. Hallelujah! He is risen!

Thanks for the Easter devotions. It helped me keep my mind on what Easter is really all about.
