Whether you just celebrated Valentine’s Day or observed “Singles Awareness Day” instead, chances are your thoughts have turned to love these past few days. Regardless of our couple status, love is worth celebrating. Romantic love is wonderful but so is the love for our family and friends, our children, our brothers and sisters in Christ. Most wonderful of all is the love Christ has for us. Our faith and hope are anchored in his love for us and the joy of our salvation is found in our love for him. It is easy to understand why we love the one who gave himself for us, but it is difficult to see why he loves us. We feel so undeserving of his love that we may even reject it, thinking we are not worthy. It’s true. We aren’t--but he loves us, anyway. A friend put it this way: God loves us in spite of us. It’s called grace and it’s amazing.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, KJV)
